There are numerous volunteer opportunities at Gaithersburg HELP. A majority are during weekday business hours, but a few weekend and evening options are also available. We rely heavily on our network of volunteers to provide services for these areas and divisions:

Volunteer Position Description
Call Center:
Bilingual Assistance
Work at home using your phone and computer with internet access; return calls and assist Spanish-speaking clients in finding needed services; phone hours vary M-F 9am to 8pm.
Call Center:
Transportation Requests
Work at home using your phone and computer with internet access; return calls to clients and schedule drivers to provide transportation to and from medical or social service office appointments; phone hours vary M-F 9:30am to 5pm.
Driver:
Client Transportation
Drive clients to and from medical or social service office appointments; driving hours vary M-F 8am to 5pm.
Call Center:
Food/Infant Coordinator
Work at home using your phone and computer with Internet access; return calls to schedule clients to receive food or infant needs at our food pantry; phone hours are M-F 9 am to 12 noon; commitment is 6 hours per month.
IT Assistant On-call position with highly variable hours (0-10/week), depending on need, usually on a quarterly basis. Responsive and good communicator, comfortable with providing basic programming and technical support to others. Knowledge of or willingness to learn Excel formulas, VBA, Google Apps Script, Git, Google Maps API, ArcGIS, as well as basic networking, remote computer management, and voicemail mailbox management. Lead Food Coordinator Supervise a team of food coordinators that return phone calls from English speaking clients and schedule clients for services in our computer system. Work from home. Must have a computer and Internet access. Support and inform food coordinators with regular communications. Coordinate monthly schedule, train new volunteers, maintain training notebook, and attend monthly Executive Committee meetings. Requires an average of 5 hours per week.
